Same Old Me

I totally think that New Year’s resolutions are bunk. At least for myself. If I want to do something or change something in my life why would I wait for the New Year? I will concede though that it is a great time for reflection and with that reflection you may want to make certain changes based on what you find. So, right here, in front of anyone who reads this, I’m going share a few of the things I’ve been convicted about while reflecting on the new year:

  1. 20 minutes-it’s not just 20 minutes (or 10 or 5 or 1), it’s time that I can be doing something productive instead of doomscrolling or sitting in front of the TV.
  2. My prayer life has got to become more well rounded, it feels like sometimes I do put God in the “I only pray when I need something from you” box and I want a real relationship with Him.
  3. Being intentional with the things I do: cultivating hobbies, growing relationships, furthering my career, being a better housemate.
  4. Working on some of my bad qualities (i.e. selfishness, laziness, short temperedness) and not just wishing them away.
  5. Becoming the kind of person I want to be for my future husband. May sound cliche, but it’s true.
  6. Seeing the positive even in the bad situations.
So there you have it, the list of things that I either already have been working on or am starting to work on based on recent self-reflection. It’s not a long list, many of them seem easy, but for me each of them will be an uphill battle that I have to choose to fight everyday.

“Fight the good fight of the faith.” - 1 Timothy 6:12 ESV
